Sign up at 9:00 AM, shoot begins at 10:00 AM
Maverick (WFDA or CFDA) gunfighters are welcome to shoot for the OFDA trophies and points for an additional fee of $32.50 to cover insurance. If you decide to join the OFDA by the end of the match your insurance fee will be deducted from the $55.00 membership fee to the Ohio Fast Draw Association. Membership application will be available at the sign up table.

This Western Division event will be a day of family fun and Fast Draw with a majority of the proceeds from the shoot going to the family of Caidyn Lee, a precious 3 year old girl who is battling cancer.

Western Division members will set up a shooting range to introduce the public to the Ohio Fast Draw Association and the art of Fast Draw. The Los Banos Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Bath Tub Race. Santos Ford will be providing a DJ and hosting a Sock Hop dance competition from 8 PM to 11 PM. Put on you best 50′s/60′s attire and be prepared to dance you feet off. Prizes will be awarded.

Donation are still coming in but here’s a list of the raffle prizes we have so far for the Caidyn Lee Benefit Raffle. Not shown is a gift certificate for a Colt/Colt Replica action job donated by Jim Martin’s Single Action Specialties valued at $125.00. A gift certificate for a Ruger action job donated by Trickshot Johnny valued at $125.00. A gift certificate for Ted Blocker Holsters donated by Will York Fast Draw Supply valued at $50.00.

The contest is to be an “Open Traditional” Index contest with the events as follows:

Sat,- Wax on Standard Silhouette:  Standing @ 8′,    Step up wax,   Standing @ 12′ and Standing @ 10′.   Sun,- 4′’ balloons @ 10′ & 4′’ balloons @ 8′.

The contest will be held on a gun range so there will not be backstops behind the targets.

Contest will be held just outside Jamestown Calif. at the Mother Lode Gun Club. It is in the beautiful foot hills of the Mother Lode Gold Country in Central Calif. There are many attractions very close, including Yosemite National Park, which is about one hour away, steam train rides, gold panning, gambling casinos, and other things of interest.  The town of Sonora, famous from the old west days is about four miles away with many shops and so on.

Lunches, & Sat. night dinner & to be provided by the Juniors of the Mother Lode Gun Club, inside the Club meeting & dining room.  Drawing for the third Mernickle holster and hopefully a few other items  will be held at the Sat night dinner.   (IF ANYONE WANTS TO CONTRIBUTE ANYTHING FOR THE DRAWING IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED).

Both lunches Sat and Sun would be $7.00 each and include:

        BBQ Hamburger/Cheeseburgers, Single or Double

        Chips,   Salad, Beverage and Homemade Cookies

Saturday night Dinner would be $15.00 each and include:

        BBQ Beef Ribs & BBQ Chicken, Baked potatoe,  Homebaked Beans

The meal is “home cooking” barbecued fresh ON SITE with homemade beans, salads and desserts.

There is room for several RV & camping units available on the club grounds, first come first serve (no hook ups).

Well… Jim is up for another party at his ranch in Kingman Arizona so I signed on to organize it one more time. Of course when shooters get together, even if it is just for fun and food, it is mandatory that we have a gunfight so the 2009 Jim Martin Invitational Championship will be held on May 2 – 3, 2009.

Since Jim’s passion for competition shooting encompassed both Fast Draw and Cowboy Action we will have two shooting challenges for our guests to enjoy. The range will be set up for the retro shoot till hit Fast Draw match we held last year. We have also added a second range for a classic multi gun Cowboy Action stage. Gunfighters will compete for trophies and bragging rights. Primer powered wax ammo only. No live ammo will be allowed on the range. There will be a catering truck on site during the shooting events and a Chuckwagon BBQ is planned for Saturday evening. I’m thinking about showing a western movie against the barn during the BBQ. If you have a suggestion for a movie feel free to email me. On the top of my list is Vera Cruz and Silverado. Jim suggested a Johnny Mack Brown or Tim McCoy film. Part of the proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to Bob Huddleston.

Bob is a veteran cowboy action shooter, knife maker and the shop manager at American Western Arms (AWA). He is recovering from a major organ transplant and is working his way back to full health. AWA owner Russell Simpson and Jim Martin think very highly of Bob. They approached me about coordinating a raffle to help this fine gentleman cover his ongoing medical expenses. I could not refuse.

Jim and Russell have donated a limited edition Jim Martin Model AWA Single Action revolver and a custom rig handcrafted by Bill Kelly to this worthy fund raising effort. As with the gun we raffled off last year to help Wes Flowers we need to collect at least $1000 to award the top prize. Ed Farnsworth has contributed a few of his beautiful custom gunboxes and Bobby Copeland has donated copies of his books. We are gladly accepting additional prize donations for the raffle.

We would like to invite everyone in the shooting community but the ranch can only accomodate 60 guests. Participants in last years event, as well as the gunfighters that were invited last year but were unable to attend, have priority consideration.
